Bikes on Rent in Bangalore to reach Metro Stations.

Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. recently started an initiative to provide
bikes-on-rent service at the metro stations to improve last-mile
connectivity for travelers. This smart urban mobility solution, Metro
Bikes, will now be expanded, and would be made available at 36 of the 42
metro stations in the Bangalore city.
The inaugural event for the bikes-on-rent service is took place at the Cubbon Park metro station. While speaking with public the Managing Director of Bangalore Metro, Mahendra Jain, said, “The metro bike operator will pay ₹2.75 crore per year as rent for the dedicated space.We had floated tender for metro bikes from all the stations. There were three bidders. The successful bidder will operate the bike taxis from 36 stations.”
This initiative was also brought in with the aim to increase the non-fare revenue generated by Bangalore Metro, and to build a good and reliable source of revenue. The bikes will be provided to the commuters at a price of Rs 5 per km and Rs 0.5 per minute.
